This week I got offered a job in biotech I like alot. However, another job, one that I like even better, wants to interview me tommorow. The first job needs to hear back by tommorow as well, so I don't have enough time to go to the interview and then call the first job to tell them if i accept. Should I risk it and take the first job and quit if I do really well with the interview tommorow and they want me to join??? I don't want to lose this opportunity for that great job, but I'd be happy with the one that already wants me THANKS!

no, u should stay in the first job till they fire u or dont take the first and risk if u take the second! lol i ' m kidding :) just wanted to say it this way to make u realise how obvious the answer is :) Just one comment, if u finally have to leave the first job try to explain them in a nice way how important it is for u to take the other job, this way u wont "close a door" u may need to open later in your life :) good luck!

I once went on a job interview and was offered a job and told to call the next day to make arrangement as to when I was supposed to start. At the interview they even showed me my desk, etc. Well the next day I called and was told "After you left we intereviewed someone else and we liked her better so we gave her the job." That taught me that you absolutely do not owe a prospectvie employer anything. Take the first job and if you get another better offer tell the first folks you have changed your mind. You do not owe them a thing!

Take the job and if the other is offered, take it and quit the first. There is no longer a thing called loyalty in this country. All employers hide behind the 'at will' laws, meaning they owe you nothing but pay for the work you have already done and can fire you without reason at anytime. So unless you get a contract, the feel free to act in your own best interests.

You sound young... and that works to your advantage. Sure, call the first company and tell them you can start next week. Then interview tomorrow... and you'll need an answer from them BEFORE next week. That way if you get the job, you can call the first company and regrettably state that you have a change in career plans and will be unable to work for them. Don't give anymore information, and for God's sake, don't sign anything... that's the one thing that could really screw up your plans.

Did you ever hear hear the one about a bird in the hand and the brace in the bush?
Take the job that has been offered, if you want it, take the interview. If the second one makes an offer, then agonize.
Isn't america wonderful?

A bird in hand is better than two in a bush. You have an offer for sure and you are not sure of the other job. Don't take a risk and be jobless, take the first one.

Tell the first job that you won't be able to give them a definate answer until Monday as you have other opportunities that you want to look into. You don't want to accept there offer only to decline at a later date. I think they'll appreciate your honesty.
