There are ovulation tests you can buy at your local pharmacy. Other than that, I think you ovulate about 12 days after the first day of your period.

I think the temperature before waking up in the morning is probably the best way. It's my understanding that there's either a dip in your AM basal temp, or it goes up... anyway, there's a change, and then you're ovulating. It's not the same for all women. For example, I had a tendency to ovulate on day 9 of my cycle (pretty early) even though my periods were 30+ days apart, on average.

If you're trying to get pregnant, I'd start having unprotected sex on the 7th day of your cycle (right after period ends) and have it every 2 days until the 20th or so. Make sure your guy saves it all for you, so he has a high sperm count. Sperm can live inside you for 2 days. So if everything's in working order for both of you, that should give you a very good shot. This advice came from my gyn when I was trying to get pregnant with my second.

If you're trying to AVOID getting pregnant, use reliable birth control, every time.

i have used this method for years. ovulation occurs 14 days before the onset of bleeding. if you observe your monthly cycle, your vagina will have 'wet' days and 'dry' days. you will find there is a time in the middle of your cycle when you have a mucus discharge. when the mucus is sticky and stretchy, this is your ovulation. the mucus is designed to 'capture' the sperm and help keep it alive as it reaches the egg. i have a short cycle - 24 days. my husband and i abstain from sex from days 5 - 12 and that is what i use for birth control.(day 1 is the first day of bleeding)

you count day 1 as the first day of your bleeding. count 10 days later. you are most likely to ovulate between day 10-15 of your cycle. but you shouldnt have sex every night as this will deplete the sperm count. do it every other night. i am assuming you are trying to conceive. hope this helps.
