It is rumoured that he will leave the show in the next eighteen months.

I hope it'll be several years yet. I realise that we're probably not going to get through the final four doctors (including David) in thirty years (which is the length it took for the first eight), but it'd be nice not to suddenly end up with the final doctor.

I'm not sure how long he will last but I'm looking forward to seeing who his new sidekick will be. (Did think Billy Piper & her mum were great)
Maybe need to start a new question - who should the next Dr Who be? Isn't it about time that he had a sex change? lol

Until he is fearful of becoming type-cast I suppose, or he is sacked for being found doing something that the News of the World publishes, or the producers want new blood. He's OK I think, my little boy likes him and that's good enough for me.

3 seasons prolly, i heard that russell t davis has asked sigorney weaver to play the doctor after david tennat and that she agreed

My guess is that he will last a season or two and than they will replace him because the character is a Time Lord.
