Does anyone here know about what I should expect to pay to replace the heater core on a 1991 Chevy Cavalier? I'm worried it's gonna cost me an arm and a leg more than the car is even worth.

It could. Talk around a bit and see if you can find a shade tree mechanic. This is normally a simple job, accomplished with basic tools. The only heater core I had any significant problem with was on about an 1987 mustang. Keep in mind I haven't changed one in every car ever made but I do have some experience in the matter.

Good luck, hey contact me through my profile and tell me where you live. Probably not close by maybe. It's worth a try...

65 bucks for the heater core and a little patience and a 1/4 inch socket set with extensions and swivel to replace. Good luck.

You might be able to do it yourself, if you're handy or know someone who is. My husband has an 88' Grand Am and says that the heater cores in the smaller GM vehicles are easy to access. Buy a repair manual and see where it is.

No you do not could desire to replace the middle or bypass under the sprint. in simple terms come across the two hoses that are heading into the firewall under the hood. All you're able to desire to do is splice the two mutually. the only concern you will choose is the flow the middle is a 5/8" hose and the opening from the middle is a three/4" hose. in simple terms detect a plumbing setting up or nipple that has ends like this and clamp the hoses to this.
