An action verb show action while a linking verb shows what something is

It's an "action" verb, I guess.

You can do a test by comparing it to action verbs and linking verbs you already know:

Sarah eats pie.
Sarah has pie. (it's good!)

Sarah feels sad.
Sarah has sad. (it's ungrammatical)

"have" is not a verb. "to have" would be an action word.
