Do you look at another persons questions and answers to get some idea of what they are like?
I had to break this into parts because I ran out of characters.

You mean here in Yahoo! Answers? No, I don't. I only look at other answers when I am done with mine. Then I compare mine with theirs.

Sometimes I will skim the answers that are already there because I don't want to just repeat what someone else has said. And if I find a question or answer particularly thought-provoking, I will go their profile. Most of the time though, I just answer the question with the first thoughts that come to mind and move on to the next.

Sometimes. Mostly when there isn't enough information in the question itself, I would look to see if more details are available. Like approximate age, or Nationality.

Or if I think someone is asking what seems like boarder-line made up joke that I shouldn't waste my time on verses a serious question. If you look at their questions and they are all like that, I know it's a joker.

Sometimes ...If I suspect anything or simply just curious..I have a look ...
As creatures of habit we often ask the same questions but in a different way and a reoccurring theme can emerge example ..someone who is racist...this appears in their questions\answers as a trait
Form our own history we can make reasonably good predictions about our future(or someone elses) ...not one hundred percent but not bad if there is enough information ....

yes,at times.it gives me lots of ideas.but i dont use their ideas to make mine a better one.its juts like, when your in a meeting room, you hear others voicing out their ideas, and finally you come up with one.and you gte the result in the end.a better solution.so, that's how it works here in yahoo answers!

I think you mean, do we check out the person who is asking the question, and find out as much as we can about that person, so to understand them better?

I do that sometimes, only if I'm not sure what they mean, or if their question is kind of hard to interpret or understand.

It does help.
