well first, are you positive he has doent have a girlfriend? cuz if he does and you ask him out, that could be horrible. but just take a chance. the worst he could say is no. some tips- ask him when he's not surrounded by friends, like after his class or something like that
also, ask him to a dance or other school activity because its easier than actually going out for like dinner or something cuz that can be extremely awkward. but if your gonna do that, make it at least a double date so if it REALLY gets awkward, you can talk to another girl and he can talk to another guy.
but if you ask him to a dance, do it ahead of time. because if he's as popular as you make him sound, some other girl is bound to ask him.
as for actually asking him::: be confident. wear a brand new outfit or a new pair of earrings you love. trust me. it really does help

ok first things first: U DONT LOVE HIM... ugh i hate when people use love when they dont even know what love realli is
and second is BE YOURSELFF try and make urself out there to him
make him notice u for u
and this isnt just BS..its the truth..cuz if ur not urself..than there is NO way he is gonna like u for u
