I am 34 years old and 12 weeks preg. I was shocked to find out that I was preg. with my 4th child. Problem is that I have been having shortness of breath as if I ran up a flight of stairs. (I dont smoke.) even when I talk. and I also felt extreamly tired to where Id stay in bed all day. I get the shortness of breath through out the day it comes and goes but Im tired all the time. Untill one day I couldnt stand it anymore and I went to the hospital. They did lab work and everything came back fine. They did chest xray and it showed that i had a "touch of pnemonia" I was surprised at this cause I didnt have a cough or anything to indicate this so i was given a prescription of antibiotics I took the med and felt somewhat better to where I wasnt in bed all day. But now its been two weeks since I took the meds and I stil feel tired and have shortness of breath. Now Im crying all the time. Could this be depression. I really dont want to take meds. Is there anything I can do to shake this off

Medically, I'm not 100% on what's going on here because at 12 weeks, not a whole ton has moved upward in your body to cause the shortness of breath...I've looked into this...personally, I think it's caused by the extreme fatigue and tiredeness which is caused by the crazy hormones and the fact that your body is burning more calories while you're sitting still on the couch than when you're non-pregnant running a marathon. On a personal level, I am 26 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing the same shortness of breath-I can't even walk and talk on my cellphone without sounding like a fat out of shape cow, and that started for me at 7 or 8 weeks and has continued throughout. And, yes, could be deppresion--pretty sure I've got a touch of that too, but I made the decision to talk to my mom and husband about it so they always know how down I am and can keep an eye on me and get me going if I need it-I refuse to seek therapy or drugs at this time.

Pneumonia's effects last for an ungodly long time. I've had it twice and its exhaustion lasts for at least six weeks. All you can do is take it easy and try to understand that just because you didn't cough doesn't mean you weren't really ill. I had the same thing, I went in with a kidney stone and when I was xrayed they found the pneumonia. I didn't cough either. It is time for a re evaluation though, you may need more antibiotics or different type since not all pneumonias react to the same thing.
I don't think you are depressed because of your mental attitude. When you don't understand your physical problem, you then think its mental, but in this case its not.

I also felt (with my second child more than my first) that I could not get enough oxygen, light headed, and short of breath. Turned out that I was O- and my baby was A+ and I had toxemia. This will start showing up in tests and on your body in the next couple months. Swelling of the feet and face. Hopefully you do not have a cat, if you do you CANNOT be changing the litter box, not a wives tale. You get toxemia alot of ways and that is a contributor. I ended up taking the pregnancy vitamins along with an iron supplement. You will feel so drained from toxemia. Please, if you have a negative in your blood type , ie O-, A-, AB- etc. make sure your Dr. (who after all this time should be aware) that toxemia is common anyway but more common in negative blood types. The is also the chance, if you are growing large quicker than the other babies, of neonatal diabetes. Please either check with your Dr. or check with another Dr.

My experience was the postion the baby can get, they can lay in such wierd positions it will make you feel that way. I did. My first got up under my rib til I couldnt move. Just rub your belly gently and make the baby move a bit and see if that helps. Being pregnant by a surprise and already having children, can be pretty uphieval. Take it easy and try to relax before you go to bed at nite. You have to adjust to a big change. You must deserve this child if God is sending her to you at this stage of your life. Blessings

See your Dr. it could be depression and if it is it may get worse, and its better to get a handle on it before it gets out of control. i had increasing depression with each of my 4 kids. I wish I had gone to the Dr. sooner to get help.

no xrays should be done when you're pregnant!
You might want to talk to your GYNO about this and let him know 1
