If you really want to vote your conscience you should look at the candidates voting records to see if they agree with your beliefs and not put too much credence in 30 second campaign ads. Listen to debates whenever you can, you will get a good idea of where they stand when being quizzed by their opponents directly.
Here is a site to research Senators and Congresspersons voting records.
http://thomas.loc.gov/
It may take some effort to find all the information you are seeking but I would suggest you get your information from as many sources as possible to avoid political slanting of that information. There is nothing that says you cannot vote for members of differing parties in an election. You may like your Democratic state senator but agree more with a liberatarian city councilman.

You can always start a 3rd party. It's just difficult to succeed that way because all the big support $ go to the other 2 partys. Our government definitely needs a change.'

I know you already got the answers you need, but I just wanted to throw my 2 pennies.
I am voting out long timers.
I can't believe they ALL voted on Dick Cheney's SNAFU'd energy bill.
This country has been about the elites for way too long.
Dems versus Repubs: they are both the same.
I need a fresh change like your suggesting. Go for it!

Nobody is impressing me so far. This whole election is just name-calling and scandal after scandal. I would vote democrat so can things can even out again, but I really don't think anyone is for the people.

remember Ross the boss Pero ? he tried and failed, but the dude was a phoney and never got very far other than ripping off the people with his United America program to the tune of 60 million. now its hard to get anything going because people are shy of anything new. there has been too many crooks ripping them off.

I've pretty much decided to vote for anyone who's not an incumbent. With a few exceptions of course.
