My name is Alisha and I'm 18 years old. I've been really interested in stripping for quite a while now, and I'm finally comfortable enough with my body to start actually doing it.

1- I'm not exactly a tiny girl (5'6 and 140lbs) but I wear my weight well. I'm a little chubby around the middle, but I'm trying my best to lose the weight and tone up a bit. I have large breasts (36 D) and a pretty face, but I'm a bit worried about the fact that I'm not stick-thin. Is this going to be a problem, or do you think I can make it with these looks?

2- I can't think of a stage name for myself... Should it be 2 words? One word? A real girl's name? A fruit? A color? Dessert?? Any ideas would be absolut

... Just so everyone knows, this is just going to be a "side job" to earn a couple extra bucks. I may be only 18 and just graduated high school, but I worked at Microsoft for about 6 months, and right now I'm a full-time leasing agent for an apartment complex. This isn't going to be my "career" don't worry!

1) That's great that you feel comfortable in your skin. Don't worry so much about the "perfect" look for dancing. Standards are different everywhere. Your personality and attitude will be more important. And no matter how great you look, some jerk will always insult you. Don't take it personally.

2) Pick a name that suits your personality. Some clubs will assign you a name even if you already have one. Exotic is the standard. One word. Something that will be easy for guys to remember and associate with you. That's one reason some clubs assign names. They look at you and say Blaze or Raven or Angel. Regular customers are your bread and butter. If they remember you and your name, they'll tip better.

It's all about the money. It's hard work and not easy. The conditions and customers and most employers can be rough. Good luck.

Dear Alisha:
I was a manager for several feature entertainers a few years ago, so I have seen this business closely and there are a lot of things to be aware of.
Of all the girls I knew who danced ( P.S. in the trade they don't call it stripping and only real jerks use the worse slang term ripper) Only two had managed to save enough money, and had the financial wherewithal or accumen to purchase a house.
About half had a decent car and some had rent to own type furniture. Most seemed to live hand to mouth and had overdue bills etc. This in a business where almost none of the girls paid real taxes on an income that for the prettier ones could be in the same range as a doctor or lawyers after tax income.

Lots of the girls were nice human beings and some developed close freinds in the business, others tried to separate their outside life, and not get involved with the other dancers. About 8 out 10 end up using drugs. For some cocaine, others pot, (the saddest crack), alcohol abuse is rampent. This is because the drugs are very available. As the Sellers know that dancers have cash. In fact many pretty girls start to dance because they get a boy or girlfreind who hooks them on drugs first then suggests that since they would like more dancing is an easy way to pay for them.

Some older girls in fact are the ones who do this to the younger ones starting out to pay for their own habit. ( The biggest mistruth about drugs is that they are "bad" ) ( Because people do not do things that they do not enjoy ) (Yes a heroin addict truely enjoys the high. Crack and coke does make you feel 'real real good' while you are high and believe me if you go that route you will find out that you will love your drug more than anyone or anything.)

Many girls go for years without trying anything. I knew one who worked ten years without. But eventually almost every one has a bad spell where they are feeling down, and a " freind" offers them something, that will make them feel better. And it does, so much so, that they try it again, a week or month later, and so it goes.

You will find that any girl can make cash dancing, even girls much uglier than you describe youself. It will pay you more than almost any other job you qualify for. There is very high over head, eg. fingernail manicures, hairstyling, suntanning, makeup, rides home when drunk, cabs to the bar when you don't want to take your car, dancing licences in towns that require them, drinks to get you warmed up when a customer has not come in. motel rooms when you go to a different place to dance cause all your local bars are dead and you need cash now.

And of course there is the obligatory loser boyfreind who costs you money, cause he is an as -hole and they all are. So go ahead if you can navigate the muddy waters as detailed. It will give you more confidence. You may enjoy the adulation of many admirers but you will learn to understand that compliments come from "customers". Who frequently know nothing about what you do.
Your earning years will last only as long as your looks. And so many think, that it is only temporary, to get them some money to do something else. But getting out, is not always as easy, as going in, and that first dance is never easy for most.

Try posting your pic on a hot or not site for an appraisel of your body to get an objective view. Email me and I will send you a list of such sites. ycatynot69@yahoo.com

You definitely need a stage name. While there is nothing wrong with what you want to do, there are a lot of jerks out there. You could use the old style porn method. Use your middle name as your first and the name of the street you grew up on as your last.

Example:
Your real name is Mary Alice Smith.
You grew up on Hudson Street.

Your stage name would be Alice Hudson.

Well, I think the most exotic thing about all that is enthusiasm. If you send me some pics I can help you further, as for the stage name how about a lyric from a popular song. Music is a big part of the whole show. What would Larry Flint say?

I have seen some girls do very well at clubs that aren't necessarily upscale. If you are realistic in who you are and what you offer then you can do very well. There is definitely a reason why the ugly/fat girls turn tricks inside clubs. They know what they have to do.

As for names, it all depends on the character you portray. If you play a schoolgirl then Jennifer or something everyday is good. If you want to be a naughty girl then maybe something like Vixen. If you are just looking for sexy I have always been partial to Willow....like Pussy Willow.

God gave you a brain when you were born, and I'm assuming you still have it. Go to school to become somebody instead of ruining your life. You'll go nowhere in this business. Too much booze and drugs...you sound like a sane person, stay that way.

your weight isnt an issue. if you can move lithely thats all that matters, for a name, try the name of your first pet, and the road you grew up on, i'd be kirby webber, (its not good) but that method yields interesting results. btw... please dont plan on making a career out of stripping, it would only lead to to much drama. if you want extrqa money, thats cool, but be prepared for a whole new world. and loss of respect from friends and family

I love strippers with something to show. I don't care for a skinny chick with nothing.

I think you should pick a name of a greek goddess like Athena or something.
