It is very worth your money to buy an iPod. Not only can you listen to music but you can play games, and you can use it as an external hard drive and store data on it. You can download music using P2P File sharing applications (my favourite being LimeWire) or through torrents. Generally music files are 4 MB each again generally speaking.

I have an iPod Mini (the one outdated by the Nano) and I've found it to be the easiest mp3 player on the market. The menus are simple, playing music is easy and I have an 18-hour battery. The music will be downloaded by iTunes (the mac software substitute for windows media player) and can be put directly onto your iPod from that location. The music shouldn't take up too large of a space on your computer, most of your music will probably come from cd's you already own.

I have a video ipod and i believe it is worth it. If you are on a trip then you can watch movies, play games, and listen to music you like. It keeps siblings from fighting because they are so into it. You download the ipod music of of itunes which you can find on www.apple.com I have an old computer and it does not slow my computer down or take up a lot of room.

You're not the last person to get one trust me. You can download the music by buying the songs on iTunes which you can downloading off the website (apple.com) or you can download the songs at no cost using programs like bearshare, limewire, etc. It doesn't take much space in your computer because I use Bearshare and I have a lotof songs. But personally, I don't think iPod's wirth it because you see a lot of people who have technical problems with them so imagine buying one but something happens to it. Then there's no point in buying one. I think you should get a Creative Zen.

Is it worth it to get one?
I'm gonna say.....no. There are a lot of quality MP3 and multi-media players out there. I owned and iPod, but gave up when it died on me after 14 months. The only way to fix it was to send it in and have it serviced for about the same price as a new one. Do a search for iPod in the "Search for Questions" bar, and you'll find thousands of people asking for troubleshooting tips. Also, the batteries suck. When it dies on you, you have to send it in to Apple to get it repaired, which is, again, almost the same price as a new one. Also, iTunes only allows you to download music and video that is compatible with iPod, and nothing else. Other players are far more flexible with what you can put on it.

How do I download music?
You can either take an MP3 file or CD and imoprt it into iTunes, which is your main control for what goes on your iPod. Apple also has webstore you can access through iTunes to purchase music or video content. Like I said before, though, that content is limited as far as who and how many people can access it.

When I download does it take up alot of room on my computer?
iTunes takes up about 39mb of space. The rest depends on how much you download. Apple uses MP4 files, which are relatively small. If you fill up a 2G iPod, it's gonna take up 2G of space.

MP3's are great but you really can find several other methods for playback. Many cameras today play MP3's and can also be used as a web cam, video recorder, or take pictures. Many are less than $150. Many can handle memory upto 2 gig. I just purchased an Optimus digital video camera W/ 1 gig mem.
I have music, video, camera, voice recorder, and webcam plus it is a great storage device via USB on my puter. Total cost $$179. Works great!
