I have three ferrets, and they are the best pets I have ever owned. Ours are spayed and descented, but since there are very few breeders, most come this way from the pet shop. They are very curious, need a lot of time out of their cages and get into things. It takes a sense of humor to keep ferrets, but it is worth it. You can litter train them, which doesn't take much time and they have corner deterrents to keep them from having accidents while they are learning. There is also something you can buy to put in their food that will make their well, poo, not smell. Here is a site to check out. Good luck!

Ferrets ROCK!!! I have two myself. Yes, they are related to skunks and yes, they do have a particular scent to them (which some people find offensive...I don't) but think of them as permanent kittens. They never stop frolicking when they're running around the house, they try to steal everything! It's not uncommon to see a ferret dragging a two pound work boot across the floor, all the while looking for a place to hide it!
Mine are litter box trained and sometimes they sound just like an old married couple....nitpicking on each other. Then they'll snuggle up together in their sheepskin hammock and sleep for 20 hours a day.
Don't forget: spay and neuter...without fail, k?

Ferrets do NOT stink ! I used to have 17 of them. If you keep their bedding and cages CLEAN (immaculate) and clean out their litter box on a daily basis, the smell will be nominal. They do have a SLIGHT musky odor to them. But then other animals like dogs, cats, etc ALL have an odor al their own. So do we humans ! You must have AMPLE time to care for them. They are ONLY likened to a kitten because of their playfullness, but in no other way. Unlike a cat, you can't leave them to their own devices. And they must have supervised playtime each and every day of the year. They take alot more care than your average kitten/cat or dog. Please read up on them before deciding to get one.

McCain has quite some pets. canines, i think of birds and fish besides. He may be a super guy and prefer animals yet i do in contrast to his regulations. Obama's daughters get a dogs win or lose. I also have a exceptional form of pets myself and am vote casting Obama as his stances on the ambience are plenty greater effectual for organic international, reefs and the well being of the ecosystem.

I used to have a couple, they're great little pets if you have the time. They can be very curious, playful and loving all at once.
They do take up a lot of time, but with the proper training they'll use a litter box instead of any random corner and can be taught not to dig at furniture and floors.

I don't like ferrets. I hear all the time that they have a bad smell to them. And I heard someone else say their shifty? (I know I don't get it either) But if you really like one and studied and have the space I think you shouldn't ask for people opinions and just go for it. You did all that work you might as well reward yourself good luck :)

They can be descented I think. We had 3 about 5 years ago and bathed them regular and kept their cages cleaned daily, as they do poop, as said above. We could let ours run in the yard and they were great at killing Copperhead Snakes.

They can be nasty at times and smell bad, that is my opinion. ( It hurts when they bite. My friend has one and all it does is bite and stink up the entire house.)
