God says, that's not easy. Why don't you start by trying to help the person like themself more. In doing that you will create a much stronger bond between the two of you. That's not an easy option of course, but then thats often the way with friendships.

You have to realize that people have to have their own lives and take responsibility for themselves. First, you can't just make someone like you. You should want someone who likes you for yourself, and yes, people have to work on relationships to maintain them, but it sounds like this person isn't in a position right now to be in a relationship. Be a friend, as much as possible given the circumstances, but look around for people who you can engage in a healthy relationship. This might sound mean, but someone who doesn't like themself prob needs more help then you can give.

You could try to help them out because they have a self esteem problem, you might need to give them their time it might have been they were hurt, counciling is good, try to talk to them about it see if you can get anything out of them that might help you out. The more you know the better off you are trying to make them like you by doing things you know will make them feel better about themselves.

Get them to like themself first. Be prepared for a long wait. Be friends with them first, and work with them to accept and love themself. That is the most important thing. Chances are, that if you can get them to love themself, they will come to love you too.
