As a Grandfather I about cried when my Daughter pierced her Daughter's ears. I think it is a big mistake. Why would you force a baby through so much pain? It just seems brutal to me. What happens if the baby grows up and hates the holes in their ear? It just killed me thinking of someone holding my Grandbaby down and piercing her ears. I was depressed for days!

I don't see a problem with it, my ears were pierced as a baby but I do think it would be a good idea to wait until the child is old enough to decide for themself.

I understand it may be a cultural thing but I don't see how you would keep them clean and keep the baby from playing with them. Why not wait until they're 12 or 13 and let them decide when they are responsible enough to clean and take care of them.

I see nothing wrong with it at all. My grand daughter is 6 months old and she would have already had it done , but she plays with her ears and were afraid she might grab hold of the earring and swallow it.

i love your screen name! i am a huge J.K. Rawling fan!
i don't think parents should pierce little ones ears
it should be a decision the child makes when they are old enough to decide whether they want an extra hole in their body or not!!!

I don't think there is anything wrong with it either... other than it might be a waste of money if the baby pulls them out and the holes grow back.

It's okay if you are careful to have it done as a sterile procedure and be diligent with caring for the ears after the procedure....That is an open area that will ALWAYS be a venue for infection....This per my child's pediatrician...
