Teaching the sign language alphabet would be one way. Studies show little children learn faster when using visual, hands-on type learning.

Alphabet blocks and alphabet toys, like the foam alphabet padding in which the letters and numbers fit, are good language teaching tools.

So are educational films and television shows like Sesame Street & Electric Company.

- look up words in the dictionary

improbe? u mean improve?
Well they often will right sentence on the chalk board and then give prizes to the first one who can find the things that were wrong with the sentence...at least that's what my elementary teachers did. I dont know how this has to do with psychology though....so maybe I am reading your question wrong....

Reading to them, encourageing class participation, book report assignments, alphebet based projects ( like making a piece of art that represents A, B, C..etc), sing alongs, librairy trips, taching nouns and constinent rules, reading aloud during class.

songs, posters, reading to the class/reading individually, writing (journal, essay etc.) spelling bees, orals. that's all i can think of off the top of my head.
