What is the price of a bottle of Rum in Amsterdam? I am wondering if it is cheaper to bring my own liquor since I will be there for a short time? (I am very thrifty)

Since you will be there for such a short time, why don't you spend your money in the local nightspots and buy your drinks by the glass? Chances are that the locals will stand you a round or two saving you even more money. If you bring your own bottle, are you intending on drinking alone in your hotel room?

Depends on where you are coming from.. It's much cheaper if you're coming from North America. Buy it from the liquor store there or from the duty free.

In Amsterdam, liquor is much more expensive. VAT is 19% and there's not a big selection of rum.

If you go out to drink and want rum, you'll pay a lot more. Guesstimate is about 15 euro for a cheapish 500ml. bottle

Alcohol is pretty cheap in Amsterdam. If you do not mind carrying a bottle with you, purchase one at the airport's duty-free shop before boarding since you avoid paying taxes (you still have to pay 19% tax for alcohol you purchase in Amsterdam). From my experience, I got the best savings when I purchased the alcohol of my choice from an auction site at a price below that offered at the duty-free shop, and brought it over to where I was heading. I hope that helps.

Leave your rum at home. Much cheaper in the Netherlands.
