is it easy to get on or do u have to be in real bad condition...like my back hurts... and my legs would be soar alot but its not like to the point where im gonna die...and i didnt break anything...and im still young...so if i ask for a refferal to get physical therapy is it gonna be free?

The getting the referral itself is no problem. As long as it's a legitimate problem and the Doctor feels that a Physical Therapist is the correct health professional to handle the job. Then it's just a matter of your insurance. Also another thing to consider is Direct Access. In all but 2 states (AL and IN) PT's have what is called "Direct Access" to patients. This means that the therapist is allowed to evaluate and treat the patient for, I believe, 4 weeks. If after the 4 week period the patient doesn't show any sign of improvement then they have to be referred to a Physician. Each state has it's own provisions as well. The process by large is simple procedure though and usually isn't frustrating for the patient.

That depends on your insurance more than anything. Most insurance companies require a referral from your primary physician. This referral will get you an authorization number listing the number of allowed visits. Whether or not you pay also depends on your insurance. Most have co-pays for physical therapy, but if you are on welfare, then its free.

The referral itself is free, but you will have what is called a co-pay once you go to the physical therapy.
You do not have to be real bad; if you are in pain, they will take you.
