Do total strangers ask skinny people what they're having for lunch? I feel like the dinner police are out to make sure I don't enjoy my dinner. Doesn't anyone realize how rude this is? Would they go up to a skinny person and say "Mmmmmmmm, that smells good. What are we having for dinner tonight?"

I know. It's not just you. I'm a vegetarian so I rarely buy food at the cafeteria {usually nothing for me to eat there}. I bring my lunch from home, and my co-workers are very snoopy about what I eat. Some are polite and merely curious, and I don't mind explaining to them what I have for lunch and how it's made. Others say "What is that? How can you eat that? Doesn't that taste gross?" etc. I tell them it's very tasty and much better than eating a corpse. I remind them I don't go up to them and drill them about what they're eating, no matter how digusting I think their dead-body sandwich is. It's taken a few years but I have them used to me and my lentils/soy/wild rice/legumes/ etc.

Maybe they're simply hungry and they think you'll share your lunch with them!

Then again, some people are just raised rude and have no clue.

I am amazed at the intrusiveness of others. I guess some people see eating as a social activity and want to include themselves in your meal! Refuse to give them an honest answer! If you are having Chinese, say waffles. It it's Steak Out, say lasagna. Best of luck to you!

If total strangers ask you anything, don't answer. If you have friends talking to you like that, you need to drop them..immediately. And don't settle for anyone that doesn't respect you!
All that aside, come up with some good one liners to throw back at em. For example say something like ,"I'm havin something you would like, weiners...like you!"

Well if you do your own cooking maybe whatever you have smells really, really good & they want to know what it is.
Thats the only time I ask someone what they are having, regardless of their size.

Because our taxes will most likely be paying your health bill in the future. most likely you will be getting the beads (diabetes). So people are actually trying to tell you to chill in a nice way.
