By the time the question or answer gets deleted its hours old . After enough questions get asked its page two for that old question nobody sees anymore. The basher gets his account deleted after 30 - 35 reports and he gets a new one in two minutes.
Its a free world (thank GOD) so do what you want to do ( your going to anyway ) I was just curious.

I have seen some very insulting comments on here and I'm tired of it. I don't care if you call someone an idiot or a moron, but I think we all know the kinds of verbal abuse I am referring to. It doesn't take long to read new posts or questions, and the abuse is generally confined to only a few categories, so I wonder why these aren't checked and the abusers' posts' taken off? It doesn't take a genius to get on here and see 10 posts at a time from an abuser...so why aren't they removed immediately? This should be free from that kind of prejudice and hate and Yahoo answers is doing a poor job of eliminating them.

This is a very good question.
I report because this may be a free world but, I am thinking of the children on this website. People should not be allowed to harm children. Some of the things I have seen posted on Yahoo Answers are an assault on children. This is not an adults only site!
There may be children posting profane things here also. They should not be allowed to assault other children either.
I wish that all children had an environment that they were safe and protected in. However, that is not reality. I believe it is up to caring adults and Yahoo to make sure children are protected on this website.
There are plenty of adult sites that people can go to and let themselves go. Why verbally assault a child. That is criminal behavior and should not be tolerated by Yahoo or any of us on this site.

Actually, surprisingly, yesterday there was a question on this post that must have been too foul for even Yahoo. It had been removed almost immediately. I report the ones promoting violence. I shouldn't have to be threatened with death on Yahoo Answers. The rest I ignore.

I report because gay bashing is not appropriate and cloning is not appropriate.
When we notice problems it is better to be proactive instead of being "lazy" and not doing a damn thing about it.
In any event, no free speech does not reign here, we are on a limited public forum which Y! controls as a private corporation. We report not to curtail freedom or to censor speech but to draw a line in the sand and say "no more."

because they WILL eventually get removed, if it's an hour or a day it still happens. Go look back at the resolved questions and see how many basher questions remain.
Frankly, I don't give up because I don't get immediate results.

I think instead of reporting someone just give a smart a** answer to make them look bad to all the people who read it. Freedom of speech and freedom of opinion. If you don't like what you're reading write it.

it is foolish, we are adults and should deal with things with civilized discussion ... censorship is wrong, and so is hateful speech
as for the person talking about children ... maybe you need to keep a more careful eye on them ... if you cant talk to them about the realities of the world, you better watch them online, because there is crap content everywhewre ... again rather than censorship, try conversation

I don't bother to. I keep in mind that everyone has a right to their own opinion just as I have a right to speak back if need be.
