Most of my life I have thought high maintenance meant in a financial way, which it is, but there is also high maintenance mentally and emotionally. Someone that talks constantly, knows everything but can't seem to do chit for themselves, and just generally draining you is high maintenance.

I think to myself "OH GREAT! SOMEONE LIKE ME TO DEAL WITH"... ha ha...
When I hear high maintenance, I think of a vociferous person who doesn't roll with the punches... rather whines about it and is determined to get his/her way. It can be good or bad, however it shouldn't be deemed as the annoyance everyone perceives.

well to tell the truth high maintenance, to me means that Ur stuck on Ur self and u care way to much about Ur image and that u r inconsiderate of other ppl and there feelings
in other words the type of ppl i truly hate and try to avoid at all coasts

I used to be high maintenance, all the right clothes, my hair and makeup had to be perfect to leave the house, all that crap. It gets so very tiresome!

Someone whos wants exceed their needs no matter what the consequences to others may be in order to obtain them. Someone who thinks of themself exclusively. A spoiled brat. A primadonna.

Conventionally, and years ago, it was term reserved for females. Today, it has expanded its arena to encompass males. In either case, it is someone who requires a great deal (time, items, etc.)to exist in any situation.

They're like me and always gotta have their hair and clothes just right, like my pigtails gotta be perfect when I wear them. I can't just go camping in the woods in a tent not having what I need cuz I can't live like that!
