My opinion is the whimsical "soul mate", others may think money, sex, or interests. Just seeking feedback...Not cracker jack analysis, or confronation.....But hey...thrill me!!! I myself feel as if I have overlooked my soulmate..and she is still searching for me..Silly I tell ya! Silly!!!!!!

That is a very interesting question for which there is no single answer for who we pick as our partner in life has a great deal to do with the culture in which we live and in the wants and needs of both parties.

My wife and I have been married 42 years and we have gotten along quite well for the most part although there have been some bumpy roads. A few years back I suggested to my Minister who is also my best friend that he might want to do a study/survey to find out what it was that those couples such as us who have been married for a long time all have in common. What they found was amazing. The one thing some 60 couples who had been married over 40 years all had in common was similar educational background, common interest and both partners building each other up.

I don't know if that is what you wanted. But thanks for the invite.

I think it's different for all people. I've thought about that quite a lot. Some people really do consider money, sex, power, and things like that !! To me... and to my husband... it was love and fidelity.

I don't think there really is any such thing as a soulmate... if you mean that in a sense where you could find a partner and without any effort they would be totally right for you. No matter how "right" for each other you are, there will still be adjustments when you live together, and you will have to compromise because you are taking up the same space.

But I do hope you find that soul mate !! If not... find the prettiest girl you can find, and if she is faithful and turned on by you... turn HER into your soulmate.

Barretins was describing love. That guarantor of the human bond. How else could you be sure your mate will not" trade up" at the first opportunity, if there was not that inexplicable thing called love. Be sure; it is and has been quantified.

Initially it's usually the physical attributes....good looks and the chemical rush we get. But friendship, trust, honesty, loyalty...that's the stuff "Forever" is made of...
