The C-Section causes some trauma to the tissues of the abdomen, and cuts muscles as well. It leaves a wound that is safe if given time to heal. Just as with any surgery, there are various restrictions so that it heals correctly, including limitations on lifting too much weight, necessary rest, restricted activities, etc. Sex is just another activity that will create stress on the body, especially in the particular area of the incision. If you have weight on the incision, or vigorous exercises in that area, it will limit the healing and could possibly open the scar or cause bleeding.

With any incision or trauma, one needs plenty of rest and moderation to allow healing. Also, it is important to prevent bacteria to enter the area of the incision to avoid infection.

It is worth the wait!

I don't have a scientific answer for this, but my is guess is because you have opened your uterus up by cutting through the stomach, increasing the risk for infection. You may not have had a vaginal delivery, but you still don't want to introduce foreign bacteria through the vaginal channel, as it is a passage to your uterus, which is still trying to heal from being cut open to deliver a baby. Without doing any research, that is just a logical guess. I don't know if I am right or not, but it sounds good!

It's customary to wait 6 weeks after having a baby anyway. It's to make sure everything is ok down there, and with a c section to make sure you don't tear the incision. Me and my fiance only waited 3 weeks after my daughter was born, but she was born naturally, and my doctor could tell when I went for my 6 week check up.

A c section is a MAJOR abdominal surgery. You need to allow your body time to heal and to help prevent infection. Do women not wait, yes but I cannot understand why. Give your body the rest it needs to prevent complications such as infection and even pregnancy.

Depends. How do you feel? I was told to wait 6 weeks after my hysterectomy. I made it 5. I'm still here.

It takes longer to heal from a c section than from vaginal birth.
