Metals
========================
malleable; can be shaped easily.
Readily conduct heat.
conduct electricity.
High melting points.
Non-Metals
=========================
Brittle.
Do not easily conduct heat.
excellent insulators of electricity.
low melting points.
greater tendency to undergo sublimation. (go from solid state to gas without ever entering a liquid state)

I remember this from chemistry class in college, Metals are ductile, mailable, good conductors of electricity, usually solid at room temp ( but not Mercury) and shiny. Non-metals are brittle, not good conductors of electricity,and usually not shiny, hope this helps you. Good Luck
