I feel so distraught of US/Canadian relations. Never have both Governments been in such agreement while their respective people's are at odds. Canadians tend to be very observant of all politics and its clearly evident (to me anyway), how my neighbors to the South are being deceived by their media. I'm not professing to be any better; we have our problems in Canada as well.

As a Canadian who has MANY American relatives, I'm really sadden to see the state of Affairs in both our countries, both Political and social. The relationship between both nations has never been sadder and although your President has taken a liking to our new Prime Minister, it does not weight well with the general population. His ministry is suffering a drop in polls because of it, and the Soft Wood Lumber deal hasn't helped him either.

Both nations need to start taking notice of the sad state of affairs, both within and out their borders. We need better people in office!

What do you think?

Clarification: I'm not placing any blame on your government for our "bad" politics. I'm merely point out that our situations are very similar and VERY symbiotic ... what affects one affects the other. It's a fact ... get used to it!

Then we need better people voting. As long as voters stick to straight ticket and base their decisions on campaign adds and not the candidates voting record, past job performance, hay any accomplishments beats promises to get votes.I vote for the candidate not the party and have thrown away a few votes on Independents but I always do the research. It's a privilege to vote and carries more responsibility then a right.

I agree.

While most Canadians seem to be progressive, level headed people, the ones I've met have been incredibly arrogant. A great country though.

I have to ask, does lumber play that large a part in politics there?

Well the good news is that there is an election every two years, every four years for President.

The bad news is that the rest of the world is so screwed up, it's pretty hard for North Americans to isolate ourselves any more.

We had it good for decades, and now the evolution of the world has creeped into our continent.

No matter what the people say, the leaders can only do so much. They try as hard as they can to make things better, but they have to please so many people.

You can't please everybody, even though you have to try.

I'm happy with my President. If your president is dropping in the polls that is not my issue. You country is replete with Liberals which are one too many liberals in my book. Socialist Liberals are the problem. Why should we suffer because you are concerned about your President. Sorry, you are going to have to look for something else to lay the blame on, because I'm not buying what your selling.

As long as the USA continues its arrogant belief that it can set the rules for everyone while being exempt from international law itself, the world will only get worse.
I think Canada should stay completely independent. We should get rid of Harper as soon as possible. He is dangerous to our sovereignty.

And Yes. Lumber is important to the Canadian economy and we are getting royally screwed by the US and its refusal to abide by the NAFTA.
