My fiancee and I have been TTC for a few months now. My hormones were all messed up, thats why I couldnt get pregnant before. I am now taking Vitex and Red Raspberry Leaf to help balance my hormones out. Hopefully I can get pregnant this month or next. But my question is, how do you know you are ovulating? I went to babycenter.com and did the ovulation calculator and it said between Oct. 28th-Nov 2nd (I just started my period today). Should I trust that and try during that time? What else can I do? I know that there is an ovulation test.. but how do you use that? Do you pee on it like a pregnancy test?

I'm sorry.. this is probably a stuipd question, but i seriously just need some help. Any good TTC tips anyone can give me would be of great help too. Thanks!!

The only way is getting to truly know your cycle!
(ok I know that sounded so cheesy)
Don't listen to anyone telling you to count this many days or that many anything -that's not how it works. You have to find out when YOU ovulate, and every cycle of your own can even be different. And women with the same number of days in a cycle, can ovulate several days apart.
You can use OPKs (ovulation predictor kits, you pee on) but they are hard to tell and sometimes confusing and frusterating.
Start charting! It takes a little work, but you take your morning temp everyday and chart it. When you notice your thermal shift is when you ovulate. Try http://www.fertilityfriend.com I've used that site for years and it's helped me get pregnant several times. lol

Just for an "idea" of when you might ovulate, I'd say counting back 14 from when you are supposed to get your period is ok. But this could be way off for many women! Especially if you have hormone troubles - trust me -me too. And this doesn't work if your cycle is different all the time -again me too.

I am using an ovulation calculator also but I havent had any problems with my hormones. To be on the safe side I mean if you want to get pregnant soon buy the ovulation test. I am not sure how it works but it will have directions with it to tell you what to do. Good luck.

HI I FOUND THIS SITE TO BE VERY HELP FULL http://www.mymonthlycycles.com/whencalcct.jsp YOU CAN PUT THE DATES OF YOUR PERIODS AND IT WILL TELL YOU WHEN YOU ARE LIKELY TO OVULATE. THEY SELL OVULATION STICKS VERY CHEAP, ABOUT A DOLLAR EACH. FOR THE OVULATION TEST, YOU DO IT THE SAME WAY AS A PREGNANCY TEST ON THE DAYS YOU THINK YOU ARE OVULATING. IN THIS SITE YOU CAN HAVE THEM SENT YOU A REMINDER BEFORE YOUR FERTILE DAYS.

I would suggest you invest in this book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" it has been very helpful to me, you can get it on amazon pretty cheap second hand and it tells you how to track your period and look for the body's natural fertility signs like cervical mucus, position, and also explains the BBT method of tracking. After a couple of months you will know your body better than your gyno:)

you allways ovalate 14 days before your period so if your period is every 28 days count back 14 days and dont stress too much because that could delay your period a few days on. and ovalation tests are good yes you do wee on them and they tell you if your ovalating you could also go to your doctor for advice on periods and ovalation and maybee your mind will be at rest well good luck i hope you get some good news pregnancy allways happens to them who are not xpecting it my sister is in the same boat as you good luck babe have sew just after your period and just before your period you should be fine.

Why don't you see your doctor for help? I know about the ovulation test. Read the directions and follow them.
