I have also seen the night sky completely lit up with bollides or meteors or spaceships or something.

I've seen this occur but when either street lamps where lit or some form of man made light was on...i believe it would look much more awesome while all lights are off and the only gleam you see is the one coming from the moon...then left to ponder and see life as those couple seconds of total darkness simmer down right before the sun begins to rise

I've seen the night FADE into calibrated periods that eventually become day. But you can never quite pinpoint the exact moment it happens.
