i delivered my son at 23 weeks and this was in 98. but things have changed in the last 8 years. My dr wanted to strap me in a bed and pretty much hang me upside down for a week but my boy wasnt having it and wanted to be born that night. But they have meds that they can give you to slow or stop your labor and speed up the development of the baby lung so they are more mature at birth. There are alot of "old" ways to stop labor and some new one too. Your dr will do whats best in your situation. Good luck and hope you and baby come through ok.

If you are having contractions they will give you meds to stop them and hold you in the hospital until the labor has completely stopped. If you're water broke there is nothing they can do and at 21 weeks the fetus will more likely then not die. I believe at around 23-24 weeks is when the baby has any chance of survival. I hope this hasnt happened to you. Sorry to hear it if it has. Good luck

I went into labor at 21 weeks and my baby could not be saved because I went into labor too soon.
However, I also went into labor with my middle son at 22 weeks and the doctor kept me at the hospital for 1 week and I had my son. He was 1 pound 8 ounces and he survived, he is my miracale baby. The only problem was that he had to stay at the hospital for about 3 month's.

Give you something to keep you going as long as possible. 21 weeks is very early and not safe/healthy for the baby to be born this early. Technology these days are really good (provided you live near a good hospital that can care for extreme preemies or fly you to 1 that does). I work at a Ronald McDonald House and a lot of the moms who stay here have extreme preemies and most of them eventually get to go home in a few months. Good Luck!!!!

They try to stop labor... if they can't stop the labor, then your baby basically has 0% chance of survival at 21 weeks.
