Recent college graduate looking for work. I'm actually interested in working for Southwest Airlines which is very close to my home. This question regards Southwestern Airlines flight attendants...I'm networking and I'd like to find a way in. It seems that this company is not only very well liked, but it's hard to get one's foot in the door. If anyone could help, that would be great! I applied to the company a few weeks ago and I'm waiting to hear back.

Just keep on trying and do not give up. Your eagerness to work for them may pay off in the end. If at all possible, visit one of their Human Resources hiring personnel in person. Any personal contact should give you a leg up in your search for a job with them.

I didn't realize how competitive the aviation industry is! I've been trying to get in with Jet Blue as a flight attendant, and my cousin and my aunt both work as FAs and have sent in a recommendation on my behalf. I haven't heard from the company yet, though. I like Southwest, too, and applied there about a month ago. I think patience is the key. If you have solid customer service experience and format your resume properly, you should be fine.

I would avoid being a flight attendant right now.... their jobs are being cut left and right because of the economy and oil and all that fun stuff. Still, I have found that the smaller airlines, almost charter size pay the best and are the best to their employees.

Be prepared to move to a new city to get the job you want. That's the real world. Join it. You're not home anymore.
