I'm getting a fish for my birthday, and I can't decide whether to name it Mittens or Sambo. Do you have any suggestions?

Sambo is short for the russian word SAMozashchita Bez Oruzhiya. It means "Self Defense without weapon." So, if it was a chinese fighting fish, a russian fish, a beta, or any feirce looking or fish with flowing fins, I'd name it Sambo. Otherwise, if it was a goldfish, or a cute little fish, Mittens would be the name.

Nemo!! But of your choices, go with Sambo, mittens refers too much to appearance, and I'm not sure how many mittens a fish will be wearing! I wonder what type of fish you will be getting. Maybe go with Samba - like a dance, pretty much what fish do all day in a bowl.

I'd say Sambo because if you name it Mittens having clothes on the fish might make it a Mittens, and it's pretty hard trying to put clothes on a fish (not that I tried).

i like Sambo. Mittens sounds like a cat name, and i don't think the fish will be too cold!

Mittens is a cat name. Sambo was a type of Pepsi.
Go with "Ted".

Mittens! Definetly Mittens!
I have numerous fish, with various name like: spot, sally, bob, joe, jaws, charlie, kitty, cat, dawg, meow, baby, momma, 2spot, red, flash, zippy, mickey mouse, fred, rex, .... I've even forgotten some of the names of the fish that have passed on! Go wild, but I think Mittens is great!
