Attorney: one who is legally appointed to transact business on another's behalf, i.e. your representative, your agent.

That's why you see attorney at law...That is equal to a lawyer but here in the US we like to shorten things so we drop the at law.

Lawyer: one whose profession is to conduct lawsuits for clients or to advise as to legal rights and obligations in other matters

I know what a lawyer is but i do not know what an atoorney is so i will have to say there is no difference that i am aware of.
