I live in london with my husband and kids and im thinking of moving out to borehamwood, ( just after barnet lane) whats it like there? is it a wise choice, i dont really want to bring my kids up in central london, its very rough where i live- prostitutes, drugs etc etc right on my doorstep, i know its everywhere, but it must b a bit better than this hey?

There are some nice places in Borehamwood. A couple of my friends with children have moved there over the last two years. Good facilities. Go have a drive around and see what you think.

I work in Borehamwood. Elstree is not so bad, but Borehamwood is awful! There are a lot of rough housing estates and I've heard it has one of the largest population of teenage pregnancy's in the country. There are a lot of large businesses based in Borehamwood, along with the film studio and BBC studios and the High Street is currently in revival to support this population, but when you go out at lunchtime you're still subjected to having to listen to effing and blinding from local residents (and that's just the women!). I certainly wouldn't walk down the High Street at night - I wouldn't feel safe.

I live in Hackney in London and I would not move to Borehamwood. I've heard it's just as bad there. To me it seems like everywhere is the same.

I have brought up 3 children in Central London and all have turned out excellent, the best thing you can do is just give them good morals and have good communication with them and they'll turn out OK.

Good luck XxX

Lived very briefly in Elstree and it could have been better.

I agree with the other posters - out of the frying pan and into the fire would be a good expression for your plans.
