Because it wouldn't fit in with the war on drugs. The propaganda is against it, and that keeps everyone thinking it's an evil thing. From what I've observed in my life, I'd be more apt to think that I'd rather be a pothead than a drunk-I've never known any obnoxious weeders, but plenty of obnoxious drunks. Some people cannot handle it though, as it leads to heavier things, hence the reputation it has. But I'm like you, I think it's bad reputation isn't deserved. I believe I'm correct in saying that alcohol has destroyed many more lives and is just as addicting as anything else you could name. Most of the weeders I know are easy going, hard-working people who don't cause trouble and are honest and trustworthy. I can't say that about some of the drunks I know. My drug of choice is alcohol, but I watch myself when I drink because I don't like that drunk feeling you get when you've had too much; just a slight buzz, thank you! I think it's a shame that pot's been made out to be so bad, and that law officers have to spend their precious time busting potheads, while they could be working on some of those psycho killer cases and finding the rapists and murderers.

My opinion is a person can have a drink of alcohol and not feel altered. When smoking pot you feel the effects with a very small amount. On the other hand you can die from alcohol detox and not from marijuana. The physical addiction is much stronger with booze. In Canada pot is much more widely accepted but still not legal and i think the reason is it is much harder to detect if someone is stoned than if they are drunk. I personally have done my fare share of both but do not agree with decriminalizing it because if a person gets behind the wheel in an altered state they are putting everyone on the road at risk and pot is to hard to detect. So that is why I think alcohol is safer.

Because a lot of people like to get high and "abandon" their problems for a few hours. It also makes them happy and more sociable (when it doesn't put them to sleep). And people don't get as full smoking than they would by drinking - And no hang-overs. So it's a difficult task to turn people away from the chronic.
But if you study hard on it and learn as much about why people like to smoke, it may help you get people off it by being able to show other positive or "safer" alternatives.
But you will never convince people that weed is bad unless you can actually "show" the perils (or dangers) of using it...
Laziness and Sluggishness
Bad Judgement
Lack of Growth
Paranoia
Skin Discoloration
Mood Swings
Confusion
Etc.

Groovy Man, someone else from the 60's and 70's! Okay, WE know that wacky isn't 1/100th as harmful to mind or body as alcohol in it's pure, unaltered form. As soon as the Government finds a way to regulate it's sale without the junk put in it today, like LSD or PCP, it'll be legal. Keep up the good fight and Peace!

Much of society knows this...
It is the government who maintains the war on drugs as an
employment program ....
Of course there are those gullible citizens that believe the govt.
propaganda on this subject....

not sure why, but i agree with you. alcohol is the number one killer of ppl 15-25...
the ironic thing is you can get pot out of your system much more quickly (by taking in oxygen) pot smokers are less violent and sure don't drive fast and stay pretty mellow. now i only heard this i haven't every tried it.... ; ) bottom line i'd rather be at a baseball game with a high pot smoker sitting behind me rather than a rude and obnoxious drunk

Doesn/t matter. Neither are good for you and there are much more important things to discuss such as stem cell research and North Korea

Because people who smoke weed, usually don't want to prove that they are dangerous idiots, just idiots. People who drink prove that they are dangerous idiots, and then they want to discuss how it wasn't their fault. People who smoke weed, are never motivated to do anything, much less speak.
