Hey, been there done that! Easiest way is to wait until you get there. Then go to a major bank and use your debit card if you have one, if not then a credit card. The rate change there hourly so that is where you will get the best rates. If you don't to use debt/credit cards then use travelers check or cash but you will usually get better rates with cards. DO NOT exchange money at the airport unless you need to as the money changers there will charge you up to 5% to change your money, if you have to only do enough to get you to a bank. The US dollar is weak against the Euro now days so expect an exchange rate around $1.30 USD to the Euro.

As "Gonefishin" and "H" have pointed out, wait until you get to Europe. You'll get a MUCH better exchange rate. In my experience, airport shops and restaurants will accept dollars in case you need to spend some money before arriving in Europe.

best place is from an atm once you get there using your debit card. if you feel uncomfortable going without any money, you could buy some from your bank but there will be fees. airports always have atm machines, so thats really the best.

I normally order it for my clients and have it shipped to them. They get the best rate this way. So call your travel agent if not contact our office.
