because I know a lot of people w/ company emails who have this...it kind of makes me paranoid now because I feel I have to respond right then. Can you do this w/ gmail or yahoo?

i know on yahoo's new beta mail it shows the time, but u have to be a beta tester to see the new mail

Yes, unfortunately, by software that requests a delivery receipt, either built in to the email provider options, or separately, just the same as you ask for a delivery report with sms text.

They can't see if your online and reading it at present, although there is software that requests a read receipt too. But the majority don't know or use it. So don't feel obliged to reply, just say you were offline, if you can't be bothered.

Its the all seeing and all knowing. There's a security sub space station, which can see the time on somebodies wrist watch, from all the way up there. So people have good reason to be paranoid.
