My grandma got me this really cute jacket for my 11 b-day and even though it has faux fur I wanted to know if they shave the bunny or do they have to kill it?I have heard both sides

If it's faux fur then isn't it fake and not from any animal?

I never heard of bunnies fur being used to make faux fur.

Faux fur is not real fur. Faux means fake with is some kind of processed polyester or other material to look and feel like real fur. They do shave goats and rabbits to make things like angora sweaters, but they don't call it faux. Check the tag.

I think your sources are a little mixed up.
Yes, there is such a thing as rabbit skin fur, which means that you'd have to kill the rabbit for its skin. 'Faux', of course, is the French word for 'false'.
Bunnies that are shorn or plucked for their fine, soft fur are Angora rabbits. This fur is made into the famous Angora wool.

faux fur as in fake fur. that is synthetic material. Fur comes from different animals. I think your safe.

faux fur means "FAKE" fur meaning it is made from a synthetic material, not a real animal...that is the point of fake fur!!!

any fur or leather garment is made from a dead animal. they just gradually make the skin layers thin enough to be covered by material/lining.

animals used for fur industries are killed, the fur is not removed from skin. some birds are removed of feathers at the loss of life but not those who's feathers are clipped to prevent flight.

darlin, they have to kill it to get the skin and fur.sorry... if it's true faux, it's a polypropylene type material.
