1 - Our birth rate is not as low as those in European nations.
2 - Immigration has been able to make up the gap in population growth caused be a decline in birth rates.
3 - Unlike other nations, our life expectancy has continued to increase.
And those who think population growth is a bad thing are incorrect. Compare our current situation to that of Russia, where the population growth rate has become so low, that they younger generation can no longer afford the pensions of the older generations - resulting in starvation and premature deaths, and a steep, fast decline in life expectancy.

Vaccines-not enough people get sick enough to die.
Medical advancements-now we have the cure for things that we didn't 100 years ago.
People are still having large families, 100 years ago people would have around 8-10 children and expect only 3 to live. Now almost all the babies are surviving until adulthood.
