I have 16 years of expereince working at home daycare. I love it. I love kids, I wish I had major in early childhood but, I major in Business Management and CIS. It's fun working with children. They are funny, they will brighter up your day. It's hard to believe that never work with children before. You seems like you are going to be good at it. The director usually asks you questions, about what you will do in situations, take you on tour on their facility, introduce you to some the daycare employers. You will have to go to daycare meeting and everything. You will like it, give at a chance. Good Luck and Best Wishes!

Mainly kids are just little people that need guidance. You should really like kids and realize kids are not all the same. Some will be mellow and easy to care for, some more apt to test you and try to get away with everything. Know they are just little guys and are influenced by what happens around them. Know when to interfere when 2 or more kids are fighting and when to step back and see what happens and be prepared if need be to step in. Know who you are working for and what they expect from you. Be yourself.

Good Luck. If the director takes you through a tour of the center, or shows you the room where you will be working, don't be afraid to interact with the kids. If you can, get on you knees, and talk to them on their level. In my center, when touring a perspective employee, that makes a great impact, and also really shows if you are comfortable with kids.

~~~Let them know of any experience you have had taking care of children,,,have you been the neighborhood baby sitter,,,smaller siblings or cousins that you have had to be responsible for? This is what I would say if it were me getting interviewed.
"I feel that I am a responible person, and I know that the children can depend on me to be here everyday for them. Its about the children,,, sometimes children especially if they are new to the day care, can be scared with new surroundings,,,knowing that the same familiar people will be here everyday is comforting to them and that is important to me.
Let your employer know you are there for the children,,,,,good luck,,,, :)
Be yourself - but, do NOT act immature at all. Also make sure you tell them why you want to work around children and would be a great addition to their team...
BEST OF LUCK!!
Don't be nervous.....look the person your interviewing with in the eyes when you speak to them, when you shake hands, have a firm grip (but don't break the hand).
