There are probably other examples, but a high concentration would not work for the Beer-Lambert law.

The beer-lambert law is only obeyed over the range of concentration that can be measured by the technique you are using. If you are measuring the concentration indirectly using the reaction with a dye or something then the limit would be the concentration of the dye. Also most spectrometers have a set detection range anything above that will not be measured and anything below that will be highly inaccurate.

There are also occasions when the E (sorry can't do the symbol on this page) is different under different conditions or folding of the substance you are measuring. For example when measuring protein concentration the position of the aromatic residues makes a difference to the E as they are responsible for the majority of the absorbance.

The beer- lambert law is not be obeyed when a reaction takes place that is concentration dependent takes place. In fact it can be used to monitor the formation of complexes. For example, the absorbance of a solution of copper sulfate with increasing concentrations of ammonia will not obey the beer- lambert law as copper amine complexes such as [Cu(NH3)(H2O)5]^2+, [Cu(NH3)2(H2O)4]^2+, [Cu(NH3)3(H2O)3]^2+, [Cu(NH3)4(H2O)2]^2+, [Cu(NH3)5(H2O)]^2+ form.

If Mr. Lambert got really, really drunk on cider, he might not be able to obey the Beer-Lambert? law, which as everybody knows, states that anybody called Lambert must accept a beer if it is offered to them.
