What is the urinary tract?
The urinary tract or system consists of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. The key players in the system are the kidneys, a pair of purplish-brown organs located below the ribs toward the middle of the back. The kidneys remove liquid waste from the blood in the form of urine, keep a stable balance of salts and other substances in the blood, and produce a hormone that aids the formation of red blood cells. Narrow tubes called ureters carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder, a triangle-shaped chamber in the lower abdomen. Urine is stored in the bladder and emptied through the urethra.
The average adult passes about a quart and a half of urine each day. The amount of urine varies, depending on the fluids and foods a person consumes. The volume formed at night is about half that formed in the daytime.
What is the significance of urinary tract infections?
Urinary tract infections are a serious health problem affecting millions of people each year. Infections of the urinary tract are common- only respiratory infections occur more often. Each year, urinary tract infections (UTIs) account for about 8 million doctor visits.
Women are especially prone to UTIs for reasons that are poorly understood. One woman in five develops a UTI during her lifetime.

Well, they're not inserting the chem labs microscope. It's a tiny thing that shouldn't hurt. You might feel some discomfort, but no real pain. As for bad news, wait and see the results of the exam.

yikes! sounds like you have a bacterial infection in your bladder that you aren't getting rid of.
try this: get cranberry fruit capsules, sold in the herbal isle at Walmart, Target, etc.
take 2 capsules three times a day with 8 ounces of water.
there is a special something in the cranberry that acts like a little scrubber. it actually cleans the walls of your bladder and urinary tract.
taking the capsules is much better that drinking cranberry juice, because the juice has sugar--you DON'T want sugar in there.
each capsule is the equivilent of about 8 glasses of cranberry juice.

I have had it done. Nope, it doesnt hurt and no, I wouldnt worry. My mom and I both have had to do the scope thing for chronic bladder infections. The doc didnt find anything in either one of us.
Dont be scared. Hopefully theyll either find the problem, that can be fixed, or theyll find nothing at all.

the thing that finally worked for me is when I go, I make certain that I COMPLETELY empty my bladder.....the problem is not if bacteria get in your bladder, the problem is if they stay in there and multiply
