I think its the right thing to do.After ww2 we would not allow Japan to have a robust military and they have been a good ally ever since. If we said we would not defend Japan they would have a nuke by tommorrow. They are advanced enough to build them right away.We dont want them to be in a arms race. There are a few countries that just dont value human life like we do and would nuke us in a second.

It's my belief that the Japanese should be ready to defend themselves, we just can't go on thinking the old ways that we have to hold all these people under our wing. But for now, however, we need to keep the calm in that region. By doing this, we create a situation where many things could lead us to another war...even if they (NK), deserve annilation. So no, I have no problem with saying we will help defend Japan.
I hope we never have to.

I agree that we need to establish which nations fall under our protection from a potential attack by North Korea. I hope she included South Korea and the other East Asian nations we support.

during world war 2 japan was a terrible enemy that was hard to kill. that's why we dropped the bomb, and thats why they signed a treaty stating that they would give up thier army. in return we agreed to defend them. they have a cap on how much they can spend on thier own defense so it is our obligation to keep them safe.

I think it's bull crap on one hand. Why should the U.S. continue to solve everyone else's problems? But then again, who else will? I don't really listen to the news too much, but isn't there anyone else who can help?
