Is there a war between rap and rock ?

There's no war. Different people have different tastes. It's kind of a generational thing. I do think when they remix an old rock song and make it hip hop, the original is still better. Then again I'm probably an old fogie. My dad thought that when they turned an old jazz song into rock they ruined it.

There should be cause I would support Rock is been around for so long and rap is all about the same stuff girls,money,drugs,killing kinda like rock huh?

I don't think so. Rap isn't my thing but I don't feel the need to put down anyone that likes it.
Maybe there's a war between people who aren't mature enough to realise that people are entitled to their own musical tastes.

No. They are two very different genres of music. But they are also mixed (Linkin Park, Aerosmith) to various degrees of sucess. People who claim to only like rock or only like rap are people who only appreciate the "In-thing", not music in general.

According to my local modern radio station there's no competition.

But according to 10 other stations on the air in this area they also say there's no competition in favor of the other side.

all styles of music are connected. there are no strict boundaries. musicians combine rock and rap all the time.

I don't think so. Each has its own fans. The really good performers crossover into both. (Kid Rock, Aerosmith, etc.)
