Sex is always complicated no matter who you're having it with. Preferences change all the time, change is inevitable. To label someone as lesbian, bisexual, homosexual, etc. gives you better insight to what a person likes which isn't bad most of the time. If people could just use those terms nicely there really wouldn't be a problem, right? Labeling things may make it easier, but to define most by that label is being kind of closed-minded. I think when some people use labels it's only to be or say something prejudice, but that's just me. I say good day.

Oy Gavolt...(Damn bringing out the yiddish out of me) The GLBT community is so bent on labels that I am seriously fed up with it, Tops, Bottoms, Butch, Femme, Sir, Slave, Dom, Sub, Gucci, Prada, Gap, Guess...ARGH! I do agree that we shouldn't lable ourselves... Human sexuality is very complex, Kinsey, the thinking man's pervert, had a scale from 1-10 where as 1 is true hetrosexuality and 10 is ture homosexuality, almost every one falls somewhere from 3-4 or 8-9 and almost no one is trully a 10 or a 1 and most hetrosexual males falls from 4-6. even by this standard I believe it's being oversimplified.

Well, first of all, let's use the right term - "sexual orientation" describes how we were all made from birth, exactly as God created us. "Preference" sounds like you have a choice in the matter, which we all know to be hogwash.
Yes, most scientists feel that a large majority of people are somewhere in the spectrum (of completely gay to completely straight) at places other than the very extremes. So it is complicated. It gets even more complicated when you factor in that people do not always act on their true orientation at all points during their life.

For some unknown reason the human mind likes to compartmentalize things. All things. Labels are often not accurate and all that but it comes from what seems to be human nature.
Look at how people describe music or give directions. More rock than XXX. Left of XXX. This shirt is better fitting than XXX. That movie ending didn't make me sad like XXX.
Humans compare to what they know. Those who don't know a life style try to define it by what they think they do know.
Don't let it bother you, it isn't worth it in the end.

It's a really personal thing. Some people get a sense of belonging, unity, of things finally being resolved and "in place" from having a label. For other people, the labels are always short of being accurate, and they just make everything clumsier. If labels aren't doing it for you, don't use 'em.

No I think that labels are base and inaccurate, and that people should disregard them. You're right in that it's far more complicated than just a label. Embrace your sexuality as a part of who you are, and go for it!

i don't really think anyone should be labeled. labeling people leads to stereotypes and there are enough of those flying around. i believe people need to worry less about who is what and focus more on acceptance of human nature. and you are right, human sexuality is very complicated - too complicated for labels anyway i think.

To a degree, yes because it makes it easier to find people that are like yourself. People need to begin to see such "labels" as a sign post on the road informing you of your location, not a jail cell that you are locked into being.

You're right it is. Sexuality is fluid, it changes so you just have to "go with the flow."
Trying to live up to labels is impossible because they are all very relative.

It's not that complicated really. People in general make it that way Bi, gay, lez, or little bit of this or little bit of that is completely NATURAL. If you don't believe me read this article. The facts are there, people just can't deal with SCIENCE and it's TRUTH.
