Well, if you are going to breast feed, I would say wait a couple of months at least before introducing a bottle...
But once you do ti's hard to tell you which bottle and nipple are the best. Your baby will tell you!! I would choose a bottle that you can change out the nipple on because so many momma's have to try out many, many nipples before they find one the baby likes! I tried about three and gave up and just breastfed until he could do a sippy cup!! (because I could, I was lucky!)
I attended some mommy & me classes and some women said they had gone through 8 different nipples!!
Good luck and Congrats!

Buy a lot of different brands of bottles to see which ones are going to work best for you. The only bottle that I would tell you not to get is the Avent bottles. These are horrible bottles for newborns with gas issues. If you like you can go to www.epinions.com and look up the Avent bottles and some others if you like. In my opinion, I think my favorite bottle so far is the Dr. Brown bottles and my number 2 choice would be the Playtex Nursers with the latex nipples.

My son's using the Playtex nurser with the slow-vent nipple. He only uses at the most about once a week but he's never had any problems with it. I tried Avent with my older child and she got a lot of gas from it. I just think all babies are different so you'll have to experiment a little to find the one that he/she likes. Just wait until you feel that your baby is latching on correctly with the breastfeeding and your milk supply is pretty stable before introducing the bottle. Hope this helps!

My baby is 5 months and I have been successfully breastfeeding with complemented bottle feeding since she was a few weeks old. I found that the tommee tippee brand bottle is really good as the nipple is supposed to be shaped similar to the breast so that the baby cannot tell the differnece. Hope this helps!!

the avent bottles are what we used. my baby could not nurse for a few months, (he was a preemie) and he had less gas with those bottles. when he could nurse he didn't have any problem going back and forth between bottle and breast. their breast pump is also really good. it's a manual but it got as much as my electric did. i will say i never got a hospital grade pump so i'm sure it wouldn't have been that good but hey, you get what you pay for. also, the same company makes a different shaped spout that you change out with the nipple to transition into a sippy. if you can, try not to bottle feed for several weeks but i know momma's gotta sleep too. good luck

I have had the best luck with the avent naturals line of bottles and nipples. We have tried the evenflo elan nipples, and they haven't worked well at all, the invert themselves while baby is sucking on them!!! We have also tried the Playtex ventaire, and my son doesn't seem to like those either. It is kind of trial and error!!! I had a very difficult time breastfeeding my son, due to the fact that my boobs are twice as big as he is, so, I pumped breast milk, and bottle fed him. He is now onto formula, and still loving his avent bottle! Hope that helps....

i useed avent bottles for the same reasons. i was very pleased with them. although they are kind of expensive (50$ for a kit of 5) i also seen a pole in a celebrity magazine rating them the best bottles for breast fed babies because the bottle nipple is suppose to be made exactly like the breast nipple.

My daugher was switched rapidly from breast to bottle when I had to be hospitalized and the only nipple she would take was a clear one that is for nursing babies. It is made by Playtex it is wonderful and you can find it at your local Wal-Mart.

I also use the avent bottles because the nipple is wide like a natural nipple. Also i like the wide opening on the bottle because if you choose to use formula once in a while it is easier to pour the powder in, I like to take old baby food jars and wash them then premeasure my formula and keep one in my diaper bag just in case i need it. I also premeasure my water in the bottle too. Regular bottles are too narrow and the powder gets spilled sometimes.
