Windows may not recognize a CD or DVD drive under any of the following conditions:
The drive is powered on after the computer is started.
The drive is connected after the computer is started.
The drive is connected while a disc is in the drive.

Go to "My Computer" then click on the CD-ROM drive and see if it reads it there. It may be scratched or broken.

when u r opening it it means it is working..jsut tight up the cables behind..and restart...it should work
