i thought that was such a good movie, one of the best ever. but it only grossed $36 million in the US. don't you think it should get some credit for its budget of $126 million? same with a similar movie "the 6th day", which made only $35 million in the US while around $82 million was spent.

I asked a very similar 'question' about this movie about a month ago when I first saw it. I love this movie, and the best 'answer' I got then was that the powers that be don't want us regular folks to know what's going on as far as cloning goes. That "Island" could possibly exist right now, for all we know. However, our country has spent SO MUCH on this Iraq bull___, there's no more money left!

Best Ever, no. But it was aver good solid movie, better than what the box office shows. Don't know why it didn't do better, of course, part of it was the trend of waiting for the DVD or premium channels (HBO, Showtime, etc) I saw it on HBO, myself. There were a few plot flaws, but I can dismiss them in a Sci-Fi action movie, but it was better than most in that genre. Excellent direction, Bay, and solid acting, McGregor and Johansson. Somewhat creative story, Cloning meets THX-1138 or Logan's Run. Plus the religious aspect of the "promised land" being rewarded for a good life.

That statement is too bold! "The Island" while not being the worst it's certainly not the best. It was a cheap action-thriller with a storyline that was all too contrived. I enjoyed it for what it was, an unoriginal action-thriller. It wasn't as smart as it played itself out to be.

It scares them that it could actually be a possibility, plus the whole cloning thing is getting old. However, I did watch it and found it interesting in fact I was late for work that day because it pulled me in and I couldn't turn it off.

good movie? sure.

best ever? no way.

it was just a slightly-cheesy action/thriller. it didnt introduce any new ideas, and the characters weren't particularly enthralling.
