Clearly, glass is harder.

Ha! I made a funny!

By the way, hardness is not what makes glass bulletproof. Bullet proof glass is mostly just thicker, and layered for strength.

And for those that think hardness is the point, try to make ANY piece of plastic scratch glass. Now, try it the other way around.

And tell that guy that you CAN make bulletproof plastic. WWII fighter cockpits windscreens were an acrylic plastic, as well as fighter jets of later years.

And what does he think Kevlar is? Butterscotch?

You are comparing two totally different materials that have completely different properties. Glass is made from silica and plastic is a whole range of materials from cellulose to Kevlar to nylon to polypropylene's
Glass has very high tensile strength but Kevlar is better. Nylon is more durable but glass is harder

ok think about it you throw a rock at a glass window what happens it breaks but if you throw a rock at a plastic window what happens the rock bounces off and the plastic may have a scratch plastic is harder than glass

~~~It depends on the type of glass, the type of plastic, its tensile strength , also when your talking about the glass, it is bullet proof,,if so,,then I would pick the bullet proof glass. If its just everyday drinking glasses,,,,I would pick plastic over that. depends on what plastic also,,,,
Depends on the circumstances, the quantity, the type of glass or plastic!
it really depends, glass can handle more heat than plastic.... but there are really strong plastics and really strong glass so its really hard to tell.
i would go for plastic, its stronger....
technically glass is a very viscus liquid this makes it very brittle, you can get bullet proof glass, but not bullet proof plastic so i gess glass.
Plastic, such as Polycarbonate.
Generally speaking, it is glass...There are different lastics tho and some could exceed glass.
