Also, is there a way to have a unit of acitivity, in the context of a large business, whose funds are provided by the business (so there is no extra tax work, just one tax entity)?

Well your example is not one of a business within a business. What you describe is where one business is simply renting space from another. In this case, McDonald's is leasing space from Target in some of their stores

No....it is a matter of who is leasing the space. Just like an airport or a mall.
