A topical speech where you can pick a clear side is obviously the most compelling one to hear. People love a good debate and you'lll do well to pick a nice current controversial topic. There's a decent list of the usual suspects here: http://www.goodspeechtopics.com/persuasive-speech-topics.html
They're very general topics but they should get you thinking. Another great place to get the most current issues is by looking at the New York Times' question of the day on their website where they solicit reader responses. Today's topic has to do with religious freedom and you'll find it here: http://news.blogs.nytimes.com/?p=66

All the best.

Jeeez! What is it with people who want OTHERS to do THEIR homework?! Do you honestly think anyone is going to write you an entire speech or essay and post it here? For 2 pts. or a possible 10 pts?! LOL I'll do something better for you. I'll help you to help yourself write a speech or essay. The biggest problem people have with writing is that they have trouble *narrowing* down to a doable topic. Here are the steps to building an essay or speech: 1) Pick a topic that interests you. It doesn't matter what the topic is as long as it's something you are familiar with and gets you excited. Maybe it's death metal music, I don't know. Anyway, write that subject in the center of a piece of notebook paper. 2) Now, draw a circle around that topic. From there, brainstorm on all the different areas you can think of concerning that subject and put each of those areas into their own bubbles that branch off the original subject. Let's say your subject is People (I chose this because I'm familiar with the topic). Okay...what about People? a) Psychology, b) Relationships, c) Family, d) Friends, e) Race, f) Something else? The list could be endless, really. But try to pick areas of interest to YOU. Each of these areas is a branch off the topic: People. Draw a spoke from People and write down each area and put a circle around it. 3) Now look at your bubbles. Which of these areas MOST INTERESTS you? What are YOU an expert at? Or what gets you fired up? For me, I would pick b) Relationships. Okay, what about relationships? 4) Try to think of at least three different things you'd like to say about the area you want to discuss. Here's an example: a) Relationships are fun, b) Relationships are hard work, c) Relationships are necessary to human survival. You see where this is going? Do it again. 5) a) How are relationships fun? Come up with no less than 2 points to demonstrate how they're fun. This will be your first paragraph. b) What constitutes hard work in a relationship? Again, no less than 2 supporting statements. c) What would happen if we isolated ourselves completely? How would this affect human survival? What I've outlined here is what would constitute the body of your essay or speech. Just begin your speech with a broad/general statement about relationships (or whatever topic you decide on), have your 3 supporting paragraphs, each of those with no less than 2 supporting points per paragraph, and then a conclusion that restates your 3 points. Now, sit down and get to work! It's easier than you may think when you employ this method. And once you've proved to yourself that you can do it, you'll start to get excited about it. Trust me on this! Now, go prove to yourself and your class that you're an expert on something. Knock 'em out! ; )

Technology, and how it is effecting our outward ability to communicate in person, especially with figures such as doctors, educators, and bosses.

I recently won a debate team argument on this one. Good luck and good question!
