Does anyone know which Depeche Mode video I'm thinking of? All I can remember is a bit where Martin Gore is lying down playing a minature piano and looking up and singing a piece of backing vocal.
Please help it's annoying me!

It might be Somebody from their Some Great Reward album. It was released as a AA side with Blasphemous Rumours in November 1984 and reached no.16 in the UK charts. As far as I know it's the only single they released with Martin Gore on lead vocals.
p.s. - I realise I've completely not answered your question as you're asking what song he did backing vocals on. It might be Just Can't Get Enough or New Life (1981) from their first album Speak and Spell, when Vince Clarke of Yazoo/Erasure was in the band. Do you know whether it's early Depeche Mode or later stuff?
