A-freaking-men!!! I completely agree. And I would like to state, for the record, that I am NOT racist at all. I have a sister who frequents Africa and a sister who is married to a Hispanic. The difference is, Roberto (my brother in law) came here LEGALLY. They know a lot of people that are not legal, and are friends with them. She has become apathetic about it because it is personal to him (some are relatives of his). I disagree with that, though. I have no problem with hie family moving here to be with him- but as a LEGAL resident of the US it is his job to help his family come here legally.
If you want to be a part of our country, you can prove that by following our rules. Breaking the law is a sign of disrespect, and if you have no respect for our nation, don't become a part of it. It's not complicated. Illegal immigration has become a HUGE problem... But you are right. Both sides tend to agree on that. Now- what to do about it...??

I don't disagree in any way shape or form that we have to make reforms and we have to strengthen the borders.
But we have to have some sort of guest worker program. The price of a lot of produce is already on the way up and a lot of it went unpicked in nearly all of the predominant agricultural states.
In all other industries, prices will rise. I don't disagree that government costs will be made up for over time, but they won't be made up for in general economic terms. Prices will go up and some industries will be severely hurt and we will end up relying on imported items even more. Thus costing more legitimate Americans their jobs.
I am 100% in favor of stopping illegal immigration, but too many people are addressing this issue solely for political purposes and they completely ignore the economic damage that will occur. I see on one discuss these issues when discussin immigration.

Conservatives aren't as tough on immigration as you think-those businesses love having the cheap employees. They believe-like outsoucing jobs-that it's good for the US economy. Make employers quit hiring illegal labor and they'd go home on their own. They come here because employers here will hire them and they don't have to verify citizenship. I wonder what would happen if a few large business were raided, and they took the managers(instead of illegal immigrants) away in cuffs, spent a day in jail, had to pay some very large fines and got in the newspaper.

The one thing Conservatives and Liberals tend to agree on the most is that they should be in charge. Everything else seems to be secondary.

I'll agree. I think both parties have reached a consensus that immigration policies need reform.

"people who enter illegally or overstay their lawful status will not be able to obtain employment"
This is the basic problem - employers who give them jobs. If we can stop the employers then there will be far less illegals. The laws already exist, they simply need to be funded to be enforced.

Liberals support illegal immigration and conservatives don't so they don't agree on this issue.
